What you will learn:

• How to place gear

• Climbing techniques

• How to build anchors at the top of a route

• How to belay a second climber at the top of a route

• How to abseil

• Choosing the correct equipment for trad climbing

• Climbing calls

• Use of a climbing guidebook

Prerequisites:

• Be able to put a harness on

• Be able to tie into a harness using a rethreaded figure of 8 knot

• Be able to belay someone who is bottom-rope climbing

• Be able to belay a lead climber
